My husband (yay!) Leigh Ashby and I have been together since Year 12, 12 years ago! Leigh (finally) asked me to marry him after 10 years together during a camping trip on a remote beach east of Esperance. We planned the wedding for two years after our engagement and between then and the wedding we enjoyed 9 months traveling through Europe and working a ski season in Japan, all pre-COVID. We are very grateful that we got to have our pre-wedding-honeymoon trip!
The wedding planning process was time-consuming, but for the most part enjoyable and not too stressful. We are both big on doing things nice and early and keeping ahead of schedule, so we did everything we could as early as we could so that the weeks leading up were as stress free as possible.
We got married at Perth City Farm and it was a very DIY wedding with 1200 paper cranes as indoor decorations, pizza and paella food trucks, an ice-cream van for dessert and a family friend catering the canapes. We did a first look and had photos at Hyde Park before the wedding (highly recommend!) and just had family photos and a few more bridal party shots on site which all took under an hour, meaning more time to celebrate and enjoy time with our guests. The whole day was just absolutely perfect.
Our AMAZING flowers were done by up & coming florist and all-round amazing person Elise Murdoch and her business partner Candice from Flora Way - I could not possibly rate them more highly. Our photographer was incredible, but is too busy to be named/promoted! Tai from AmbiDance Events had the stunning sparkling dance floor as a feature inside along with the festoon lighting.
I am not a dressy person, and I was so lucky to find my dress at the first shop I went to (Archela Bridal). Andi was the first person to help me and she somehow just looked at me, listened to what I wanted, and within a few try-ons, we found it. Funnily enough, it was not at all what I had described to her! Claudia and Anna were amazing on-going supports in the appointments where I came back for fittings and always made me feel so special and excited, especially because I had no idea what I was doing! I really highly recommend the customer service here.
